Stars Bereavement offers support for children and young people who have lost a loved one in Cambridgeshire.
Stars is a children’s bereavement support service for young people finding it difficult to cope with the loss of someone significant in their life.
It offers specialist bereavement support and counselling to those aged 4-19 in Cambridgeshire.
Bereavement can be extremely challenging to deal with at any age, but for young people feelings of grief can be particularly severe.
Stars’ counsellors in Cambridgeshire listen to the emotional needs of young people and encourage them to express painful feelings through creative play and work.
These sessions help young people to access and manage unspoken feelings and make sense of what has happened in their lives. By improving communication about their feelings with family members, young people are able to reduce feelings of isolation and create the possibility of hope for the future while cherishing memories of a lost loved one.
ACT are dedicated to making Addenbrooke’s even better in every way and they rely entirely on funds raised to be able to do this - we are specifically supporting Ward D2.
Ward D2 is a multi-specialty paediatric ward with a team of 50 nursing and allied health staff and which accepts children aged 0 to 16 with a range of medical and surgical health conditions.
On any given day the team looks after children with acute, high dependency needs alongside children with complex, long-term life limiting conditions.
Ward D2 have an amaing team and look after children and families as if they were their own.
A previous patients family said
“It is difficult to explain and articulate exactly what it is that makes D2 such a special place. I wish I could capture it, bottle it and share it around. Their sense of teamwork is unique, and I believe stems from working under high levels of pressure and stress, learning to be flexible and adaptive in their approach to the work”.
The staff on D2 say
“We work on D2 because we love our ward, we are proud of it and feel privileged to be the ones to nurture our children back to health”.
