This year Cambridge Charity Balls are raising funds for two charities that have directly helped members of our community who have been unfortunate to have suffered both loss and ill health.
Stars is a children's bereavement support service for young children finding it difficult to cope with the loss of someone significant in their life. Stars’ counsellors in Cambridgeshire listen to the emotional needs of young people and encourage them to express painful feelings through creative play and work. These sessions help young people to access and manage unspoken feelings and make sense of what has happened in their lives and create the possibility of hope for the future while cherishing memories of a lost loved one.
Addenbrookes Ward D2 is a multi-specialty paediatric ward looking after children aged 0 to 16 with a range of medical and surgical health conditions. On any given day the team looks after children with acute, high dependency needs alongside children with complex, long-term life limiting conditions.
